Thread: Woodleigh users ?

Any Folk over here usin the Woodleigh bullets for hunting?

Really common and popular bullet for Hunting over in Aus, havnt seen much about them here??

hands down imo, one of the best hunting premiums there is.

understandably not many tough critters in NZ that may warrant need for a bonded projectile... they are my benchmark for Sambar deer yet still reliably work proper for the smaller fallow and red deers..

are they priced high here or just not needed?
see alot of light thin jacketed paper punching projies used on tahr and reds -

They are used here, most hunters have no idea what bullet type they should be using the current trend is to use bullets that fragment not sure why
anyone thinks that is a good idea,
I like bullets that expand and exit, never tried Woodleigh may try some 7mm my other hunting rifle is a 9.3x62 only use cast bullets in it Woodleighs
would be a bit over the top.

I use 400gr pp in 458win mag and 215gr in one of the 303's

Yep, as well as selling retail. I pretty sure he is the NZ importer/distributor for Woodleigh. Good selection and a good company to deal with.

i use the 250gr PPsn and RN on the Sambar out of the 9.3x62 T3 i have, certainly do the Job.
Cast is cool for sure, especially a hard cast- Use HRCB in the .375 winchester and they are just pole drivers- straight throgh....

the 7mm will like them, i use them exclusivly in the 7mm-08 140gr PPSN, just started using the 150gr 308 PPSN in the 30-06 .

Cool to hear they are About over here- Certainly the benchmark for Hunters-


I am hearing you with the whole Fragment bullet for hunting use here...... shot placement typically overrrides this simply because at longer range one can put into the lungs with ease, for bush hunting they are far from ideal esp with velocities over or arond 2900 - esp if shoulders are encontered.

alot of Technicals get pushed over here i see, many of those techs wont effect the average hunters.

I tried them in my .270 win many years ago and they were the only projectile I tried that I couldn't get to shoot in that rifle. 2"+ from the usual 1.25" shooter.

I'm after some .510 x 440 grain at present, I still waiting a reply from Dead Eye Dicks, one week so far

I used them in a 303 single shot. I was given some 215 woodleigh RN for it when I got it and told it did not like little bullets. Loaded up with a solid 2100fps out of the shorter barrel, they hit like thors hammer. BOOM - Flop. real easy to find animals after I hit them. They are right where I left them......exactly where they were standing.

yeah its all i could get to shoot well in my .303 aswell, being .312 they fitbetter than the american 311s... not to mention Rugers oversized bores
i luvthe 215 gr for Sambar!

even for such a heavy Grain they open up an do the deed very nicely!

You should try my cast .303's only .30 cents each sized .314" for an even better fit

i left the big princess in Australia- contemplated bringing it for the nostalgia of it but when those 350m shots call.... im not sure the 303 would call back

they hard cast to run a decent velocity or just plinkers?
