Thread: Wrong spindle in FL die??

Just set up to load 6.5-284 for a friend with his dies returned after another friend had them for years....

Something felt wrong straight away as there was barely resistance down stroke and zip upstroke. Is this some different sort of expander cos it looks to fit a 223 case neck!





Bottom die is my 260 and clearly much larger.

Are they Redding bushing dies ?

Is there an expander ball fitted and if so what does it measure at with your verniers?

Looks like the wrong neck/bush expander was on as found one in the box that looks a contender....not sure why someone would have changed it unless popping primers and not wanting to size..?

Swaped expanders in my 308 russian dies as i can fire 308 projectiles in mine. Loaned them to a friend oops crushed neck, now has felt pen note on it as to expander size. Ive got a lee decapper for just knocking primers out mucch quicker.
