I've tried lots of different flavours mostly in AR15's.

    748
    H335
    CFE223
    IMR 4064
    IMR4166
    BM2
    BM8208
    2206h
    2208

Out of that lot I found 2206h to be the best across a wide range of bullet weights. I never had much joy the American ball powders. Low velocity and average accuracy seemed to be the norm. I also found it messy. If you spill it God help you.

My experience is that every rifle is different, but that one of these will work. 2206, CFE223, BLC-2 (poor mans CFE223-burns dirty), BM2, 2208.
2206H is my go to powder for the first try.

    I simply couldn't get Barnes tsx55 to shoot until I tried 2208.

2208, that's what was recommended to me, works for me, haven't changed.
Using in a 308 as well as it means I only have to carry one powder, I use the same small rifle primers on both.

Aren't the small rifle primers a bit lose in the 308?
    P38 and Frogfeatures like this.

Not in Lapua Palma cases which are made for small rifle primers.

Lapua is proud to introduce the new .308 Win. PALMA (Small Rifle Primer) case. Developed in conjunction with the US Palma team, the small rifle primer case is designed to deliver enhanced long-range accuracy for the most demanding competitive applications. Utilizing the well known consistency of the Small Rifle primers to best advantage, this combination has shown significantly reduced velocity spreads and standard deviations compared to .308 Win. cases using the standard large rifle primer.

No, Lapua make both types, I have 400 of the the large rifle primer Lapua 308w match grade. From what I can read a small rifle primer gives a slightly better SD, but it has to be a warm/hot day or it wont work as well and even mis-fire.
