10/22 Magpies (Well actually 23 plus a spurwing)

For some weird reason we were plagued by Magpies yesterday, but hey worse things could happen and in no time flat I'd shot over 20 of them - by the end of the day it was score 23 magpies and one spurwing.

Fun way to spend a day, all shooting was done from inside the house into the front paddock ranges from 50 to 150m (a bit of ''Kentucky windage'' used).

Yeh well done Kimjon. That is fun with a stick right there. I have shot heaps of them here over the years. Hardly see them now as they learn quick enough from watching their brothers and sisters die.

Yes Rushy, there are a few lucky ones that just got away with a slight haircut, I'm not sure if they will be dumb enough to return, but if they do my little 10/22 will be waiting

Have you ever tried deliberately wounding (but not killing) one? It causes the others to go nuts around it and makes for easy targets

That file worked really well. I heard a couple in the distance somewhere and within 2 minutes of playing that audio clip they had come right in. Unfortunately they landed in a position where I couldn't shoot them without risking peppering the neighbours house.

Doesn't have to be that loud ,seems to work good as gold once you have a visual on the birds ...The magpies cant seem to stay away from the distress cry as soon as they hear it ,even when you pop one after another ,they still seem to be very attracted to the call ...
