Thread: 17 HMR ammo for tougher game??

During our recent trip to Tekapo I was pleasantly surprised by how effectively we could shoot the 17 HMR in the wind, and its effective range (on rabbits). Hits could be dead consistent out to 150M, and probably a bit further with practise.

The Hornardy 17gn V-Max ammo we were using was only just up to snotting rabbits, not a single exited projectile beyond 80M.

So - is there a 17HMR load (a bit tougher projectile) that would work on Wallabies etc ??

20gr game points - have shot fallow with them up to 100m because of the accuracy all bang flop head shots

The CCI 17gr TNT was a tough bullet, not sure if it's still made?

17 ammo, what's that!? Haven't seen much of that stuff around for a while.
20gr should do the trick if your rifle shoots them, 17gr are very explody.

My son has shot plenty of reds with his. Impressive pill.
