Aaaargh!! Yet more Canterbury rain = more cancelled shooting!

We had a beautiful autumn down in cantab land - months of very warm, balmy, still days with little rain - best autumn in many years. Then in 48 hours 8-12" of rain dropped all over the region with floods for miles. In many spots it equalled last 6 months of rainfall in 48 hours. And now a couple of weeks later as rivers and paddocks drain away we're into more prolonged showery, wet days. Not as heavy but lasting for best part of a week. Delightful - NOT!

TWO shooting trips cancelled in recent weeks so far..... we'll need treatment for SAD - seasonal affected disorder if this keeps up And flippers for the bloody truck..

    Perfect for the truck...

Will be plenty of shooters down here with growing symptoms of cabin fever...

    Get used to it fellas.

The rest of your lives, you’ll either (rarely) have too much, but mostly not enough by far, east of the divide.

My mates in NSW have been finding this out the hard way the past few years…

Drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, DELUGE…

Very hard to live with really.

Yes bloody wet again in Banks Peninsula
Looks like it going to be a proper wet winter like we used to get
Hardly any sunshine in the last few weeks
% RH has been in the 90s for a few weeks now
Everything in the workshop is growing a light dusting of rust

Starting a remote access building job next week that will be 3 or 4 months work
Hate to think what the track will be like after the first few loads of materials are dragged in and all the wheel tread marks fill in with more rain

And how do you think the deer are feeling about it ?

the deer will be happy as a pig in pooh...grass is still growing...and the pigs are LOVING IT.... little huas are popping up all over the show rooting up dairy pastures.had two both about 80lb run down tarseal road infront of us the other day..less than 3kms out of Geraldine..spoken to 5 other people who saw then that day...needless to say permission sought and rifle carried every day since...no sign of them.

That rain event will have knocked your local rabbit shooting pretty hard for some time?

Spent the day helping young family down the road who had a tree come down during the little Ark 2.0 event a few weeks back & take out their new kitchen ,veranda extension & pool .With the continued wet condition their drive is a stinking quagmire ,so today we hand carted timber, tiles, windows, doors &plaster etc etc from the road & a 1/4 mile through the swamp as the trucks had no way of reaching the house,we all clocked up a few miles impersonating Jesus Taxis.Cranked up the hot tub & will being having a long soak before bed .

Prefer the music from a V8 engine in a jet boat than a screaming bloody hovercraft.
