    Best leg hold oppossum traps?

I am looking at buying a few leg hold oppossum traps for a bit of a job that I may have coming up. I notice there are a few types available. Has anyone got any advice on what are the best or best value etc.

Bushmaster have unreal holding power. Not much gets away from them.

Victor are also top quality ! If you want them to last for ages it definitely worth the extra $ for either of these two

The chinese light weight cheap ones (outdoor outfitter etc) do work. They wont last as long and to get them to work properly they will require extra 'tuning' after purchasing.

It you are uncertain about 'tuning' then the best thing to do would be check out some of Shays early possum trapping videos on his 'keeping it wild' u tube channel.

Good luck and hope that helps !

Have been possuming since the early 90's and found that spending the extra money for good traps is well worth the extra. BM, Victor's or Dukes just work, plain and simple. Dont even bother touching the rest, theyre just crap.

have only ever used victors and they work - but they all need tuning to ensure a reliable set off - the plate must be set so it sits level when set - good videos available on how to go about it - but its a must - we got our victors 100 at a time for possum monitoring - each one got an individual tune up in the workshop before use - and after 4-5 years use got new springs

As above have the Chinese junk and half are missing triggers have replaced with Bushmasters actually not that more expensive. And you don't teach possums about traps because you don't have sprung traps.

Not sure about opossums, but if you're after possums here in NZ, then as above Victor's are the best, Dukes are pretty good too. Most of the other brands are cheap knock offs.
