    Fenns work well on rats. Probably the cheapest option too. Double set in a box as per DoC sop. Bait with fresh rabbit meat. A24s are cleaner and being self setting means you don't have to get round them as much.
    Their trigger is fine and I wonder if it's possible for them to be set off by a snail,slug or large insect.
