    Crow shooting video

First video in a while from Ireland. I got a couple of hours out on a field of drilled spring barley that was attracting the attention of quite a few corvids. They came brave & steady throughout the 2 hour session and was my shooting was decent for the most part. Ended up with 41 mixed corvids, 3 grey crows & 6 feral pigeons.

Stay tuned to the end for the bloopers section lol.

2 for 1 is not a bad average at all Ollie.
I have been using a 20g with lead and a 12g with steel. Both autos and have fired 65 shots give or take a couple for 33 birds so far this season.

My son is doing better than me.

It wasn't bad, but my ratio is sometimes better. How do you find the steel cartridges?

Depends on the type of shooting you get I spose as far as ratios go.

Fast ducks that are just whizzing thru or over your spread present more of a challange and is my favorite shooting. Decoying ducks are to be fair, are piss easy and bit boring.

I find steel ok shooting no more than 30-40 yrds
I buck the trend and use lighter shot
than most find acceptable but have no dramas if I limit my shooting.

I much prefer lead by a long way, but we have restrictions where it can be used in 12g here. Subgauges are fine anywhere.......for now.
You can also stretch the shooting ethically a bit further.

Steel in my experience also penetrates the meat differently. Sort of rips the flesh.
Hard to find steel pellets in your game sometimes as it doesn't bruise like lead does.
Doesn't make for safe chewing opposed to lead😆

It's a 12gauge beretta 391 tekny. Very reliable and I use it for almost all my shooting.

Thanks for the reply. We have to use non toxic shot when shooting over water, thankfully can still use lead on dry land, but it's only a matter of time before they ban it too.

Our rules for lead use in 12g iirc are not within 200m of any open water 3m wide.
Pretty sure the powers that be here in NZ will screw up even more and take lead use in sub gauges away from us.

It's the same everywhere, they are pushing to get lead shot banned. Its only a matter of time.
