    old tin bucket...the old kero tins were perfect,/4 fill with water....or just 100mm from top, add a cupfull of hot fat. leave sitting out beside the woodshed,chookhouse,varanda etc mouse or rat jumps in for a feed and cant get out so drowns, worst that happens is kids play in the yucky water or the Mrs pooch drinks it. kills the rats and mice very well
