I've been trapping rodents around our Urban house for years. We have a small creek running down a boundary with monster bamboo on a neighbours property we also have some free range chooks. This winter the rat numbers have for the first time been very low. I can't nail one at all so thats good for the Pewakawaka. Except we have a rat in the bedroom wall. It turns up every morning around 3-4.00am and bangs around. I cannot catch it. There's traps in the roof space and under the house and along the creek. I'm using peanut butter, cheese, mayo, fruit all with no result. We are sleeping in the lounge to get a decent nights sleep. I am considering one of those ultrasonic deterrents. Do they work? do they give you cancer? do they drive your chooks mad? I'm on the verge of smashing holes in the gib board.
Thanks
those ultrasonic units are crap. in fact the one i opened up contained an actual paper coned speaker not a transducer and was incapable of producing ultrasonic frequencies.
