    goat meat waikato

Hi guys just wondering what you do with goats, i know some people just leave them to rot or take the back legs and straps but does anyone take the excess to a pet food company or somewhere to not be wasted? I plan on eating some meat but dont want to waste anything

    Cheers

Last nights tea was roast mint and honey glazed hind leg of goat. Tonight's dinner was goat curry and rice

Get yourself a copy of this

The New Zealand Wildfoods Cookbook Reloaded - Halcyon Publishing Online Store & Catalogue

Apparently its not been a big seller but it sure as hell got good recipes

Keep the youg ones for eating yourself and dog tucker the billy's (or give them to those neighbours you don't like who always pester for some game meat)

Last few goats i have shot were young nannies. Took all four legs and got 4 roasts and 4 shanks, and took the rib cage for chops. The nicest chops i have ever had.

Other than being a biy smaller, the leg roasts were as good as a lamb roast that'll cost you $40

I used to throw em in the beer fridge for 4 or 5 days just on the wire racks. If you are slow cooking(curry or stew) then dont need to age them really. Any bigger/older stinkers I just diced up straight away and chucked in the freezer for dog tucker.

You gone out for a wander yet? I havn't shot a goat in yonks, be keen to go for a walk

Be cold enough to not need a fridge these days, do you take the back straps or just the hind legs?

Whole thing usually man, front wheels usually go to the dogs though unless it was pretty young.
