Not sure what the final number was on this one - 003 when I last looked - they are not up to the ravages of huge pine trees falling near them - bloody glad I wasn’t there - hard to believe I could choose a tree that was stripped by a big one that uprooted from 30m away - I crawled through the logs and branches and found the A24 - couldn’t see any dead rats
Best numbers on the seven that I have out round the Park so far is 006 - I have ditched all of the chocolate lure ALPs and changed to possum paste mixed with olive oil - instant results

The numbers are still going up on all the GN trap counters, I had a good inspection of them all today and was happy to see the trigger clean and clear on all of them. I have a mate who reckons the new ALP can clog up the trigger, something to keep an eye on. I did find an ants nest in one of them!!

Also put a couple on long ramps and set them right in the hart of the wetland, it will be interesting to see how they go. When it floods this wetland can have up to a foot of water running through it so in this area a conventional set would be no good. The benefit of the long ramps here is that it should keep the traps above the high water mark, thus not drowning them in the next flood

I decided to add the piece of galv mesh just to make sure the spaniel can't put her nose up there for a sniff
I'm all out of GN possum paste but have just ordered some so when that arrives I'm gunna try time out's mix of olive oil and possum paste

I put a new a24 out on Friday with possum paste in the top - went back yesterday to check progress - 004 on the register and two bodies under the trap
The other seven A24s are very quiet - just the occasional strike

Still getting regular kills in snap traps with heaps of flour blaze and Peanut Butter/Margarine mixture - 368 kills on the 2017 sheet

Checked the photos on the camera today and found something interesting...

The counter on this GN trap has gone from 13 to 17 kills recently, looking at the pictures on the camera I think they may have all been mice but no carcases present There was also 4 pictures of this little weasel so I reckon he is cleaning up the kills

So ive loaded up the APL with some stoat lure and also put a bit around the tree trunk so hopefully next time it shows up it will be tempted to put its head up inside the trap

@Feather or Shoot check out the recent post by time out on the bird predator control thread he has a good description and photos of him removing the chocolate ALP and replacing with possum paste.
I didn't bother removing the chocolate lure, just squeezed as much stoat lure in there as I could
