Marlin 60 has proved the most accurate of my bunny shooters - and that is shooting Very big numbers. But... would not buy a 60 now with tube mag barrel pinning requirements etc - Found it too difficult to count numbers into tube in truck at night with ammo slot position. Now would go the little Marlin 795 blued or stainless for a sharp semi.
Remember doing a 22LR semiauto comparison for a hunting magazine years ago. Bench test of new Toz model 99, Ruger 10/22, and Marlin795. Took some time to ammo test them all and drill into their best ammos for grouping at 50m. Toz was very poor, and Ruger not alot better - averaging just over 1" for consecutive groups at 50m. (And that was the best over 6-8 rugers tested). Little Marlin (gadgetman's) was by comparison a treat to shoot and come back to. Sub half inch at 50 at best, and averaged just above that. Excellent barrel on a basic entry level shooter. Then continued benchrest test - putting the 795 Marlin against my own Marlin 60 DL. The 60DL won with groups down to 0.25" at 50m, but the 795 seriously impressed me. Both precision wee shooters in the field and that's what you want.
PS.... a correction - Marlin 60 DL best at 50m, but most accurate standard barrel sporter I benched at 100m was a Norinco EM332. Averaged 0.6" for four consecutive groups - couldn't believe my eyeballs - and it cost me $247 and still had cheap Huntsman 3-9 on it !!!!!!!!!!!![]()
