    Ideas for catching wild chickens

I dunno how it's happened but there's about 8 seemingly wild chickens that continually make their way into my yard at night, absolutely destroy my garden and hedges and then leave in the morning. I'm having an absolute bastard of a time catching them so i can either turn them in to animal control or dispose of them. Has anyone dealt with such a situation? Any advice on catching them? They've proven very elusive. I have a bunch of possum traps but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be legal or effective to use them.

    Train up a fox?
Maybe a cage baited with feed?

Shouldnt they be roosting at night?

Yip caught fuck tonnes of birds and critters this way back in the day. Was stoked when my 5yo daughter came home from school and told me they had been doing it at school

Huh that simple eh? I'll give it a go. And yeah i dunno why they aren't roosting at night, probably because the neighbourhood is safer for them to explore at night time.

Don't think of eating them. I shot a few wild chickens for New Year's dinner some years ago. They were full of sinews, a bit like a pukeko. Cooked and tried to eat them but it was like eating wood. I did not have a pressure cooker at that time - might have been the answer.
