    Lake Tekapo Rabbit shooting

    Hello

Does anyone have any info about shooting rabbits around Tekapo area ?

Where and where not to shoot etc?

Ive tried to contact the Twizel DOC office , but it seems they had all gone to the pub early.

    Cheers

Sorry not for Tekapo but I called the DOC Geraldine office Monday morning this week as they cover the area I wanted. Two minute chat and in my letter box the next day was a small game hunting permit. Free and easy as.
Not quite as quick as the instant online centrefire permit but certainly no complaints with their service.

Cheers UK_exile , they seem to be very helpful at the Mt Cook and main office but no luck for the Twizel office so far

i found the canterbury small games permit real easy to get and even got it scanned and emailed to me so i had it faster. If your far out towards Arthurs pass it works, but theres a lot of farm land in Canterbury id imagine would happily have you guys.

Did they tell you exactly where you can go apart from Arthurs Pass? I got told to 'basically go anywhere in north canterbury' Which worries me..

I like small games, especially for rabbits. But what i find out is that most good places are in farmland. Does anyone knows big farm owners or operators? I really like to know one of them and come for rabbits hunting. As return, I can pay or give something as grateful, or help some works maybe.

Good luck getting access to farms in North Canterbury.... Either someone else shoots it, it's a health and safety risk or there are no animals there.... Just my experience though

Yeah you will need to do a lot of door knocking.
Don't ring, they hate that. Go and see them.

And H&S issues been cleared up recently so that can't be used as an excuse anymore....

try telling the farmers that.... has always been the case, only related to "ongoing farm activities" o if you fall in a hole beside a digger farmers fault for not marking it. you fall down a bank and break a leg where there is nothing happening, your fault. (this was told to me by a lawyer how was trying to sort a few issues out)

as usual its all about who you know in the world not what you know
