Used them for catching hares once.

We are limited to 60m nets out in front here unless Commercial Fishing

Hi Chuck,, Small game I am not so sure about. In dealing with rabbits or hares you would be dealing with pests rather than game, so you might find you would receive encouragement from many quarters.

why isn't long netting more popular for rabbit control in New Zealand,
it appears very popular in Europe?

From what I have tried and what I have read it is a successful method of filling the larder and pest control.

Long ago we started using ground based then aerial dropped poisons to control rabbits.

Sort of a wide flung chemical net that we still use now. Unfortunately this method takes no prisoners and you cant eat your catch.

I was thinking of giving it a go. I'm working on getting some netting but it isn't as easy as you might think.

We had no trouble getting netting in those days. If my memory serves me correctly we used a product called Net Inner. It was cheap and easy to get.

I forgot I have long netted and short netted deer as well.

Well Graeme, if you have any ideas where I could get the net, I would very much appreciate your assistance in the matter,
    cheers

I will give the matter some thought and see if I can remember anything of use to you.

Aren't the nets used in conjunction with a ferret, to catch tem bunny as he comes racing out of the hole?

As I understand it, the "inner net" is just that, a smaller mesh net within the larger, stronger outer net. Any fine mesh net should be strong enough to catch and restrain rabbits and hares IF it is set in the right place. i.e where they head for. However, I think you may not consider it a cost effective method.

    Who knows.

Anyway, here is a link to a net supplier but I am sure that you will have some retailers down your way.

With rabbits, quite right. BUT hares do not go under ground. They do, however, have paths they use regularly :>)

There are two ways to use a long net sapper, one with a ferret and one without,
also there is a bit of science involved and the net mesh and gauge of the twine is quite important
