I ripped this from the DVD I had years ago - it's a 30 minute recording:

Nowadays, you can put it it on a memory card or use your phone with Bluetooth speakers. Technology has move on :)
I'll leave the link up for a little while before Google gets upset with me!!
Havock Productions have an Android app for Magpie distress calls - i tried it once with a bluetooth speaker but there was a bit of background noise in the recording so half spooked them off. i need to try again.
Talking of calls though, has anyone tried a rabbit distress call for stoats and ferrets? This worked brilliantly for a stoat a few months back.
as a side note I've had good results by taking a bit wire and setting up a magpie just shot propped up with the wire. they usually run a 2 or three bird sentries in the trees. do not shoot a sentry as soon as they don't call all birds disappear. though it may sound over kill a cheap gullie suit helps. I've found that birds (epically pheasant) don't seem to recognise them when air rifle shooting and have sighted a few up in places where I'm visable to them 10 to 15 meters away.
The best results come when your first shot produces a squawker. The other usually pile in and attack it. Once got over six with that.
I down loaded a call from this site and ended up on my phone. Used a speaker on blue tooth and got a couple the other day, not bad as they came from next door.
@6x47 - I had similar strategy and results on crows that were becoming a problem at a dump in South Africa.
They just can't help themselves, seem to throw caution to the wind and go at the screecher.
got to admit I've had a good result with a wounded magpie in the past. the others totally ignored me ( was about 10/12 meters away in plain sight with a bsa super metor) and shot another 3. decided it wasn't me to leave a bird wounded and in pain to shoot others (but have been tempted too) but it is incredibly effective in my experiance
a wounded mynar has a similar effect on on mynars. starlings have no loyalty to their mates, they just go.
