    Manawatu possums and rabbits

    Hi everyone,
I am looking for somewhere to shoot possums and/or rabbits in and manawatu, I don't mind travelling a bit as long as it's not across half of the country. I have a suppressed .17HMR and am looking for to go out shooting in the area, any help would be greatly appreciated?

I also have a Tikka .260 for deer hunting, I only have one spot for deer hunting so if anyone knows for a good deer hunting spot as well that would be great. (I only shoot deer for food so if the freezer is full then I don't shoot them)

    Thanks

    Don't be mean, guys!

Tebbs - its been covered before. The only way to get rabbit/possum spots is to sweet-talk local farmers. Leave your guns/camo/dog at home, and load up on beer and go door knocking. Be prepared to be told to f**k off - OSH is getting uppity these days and farmers just don't want the stress.
As for deer - head out to the road ends in the Ruahines. Might take you a few trips but any trip into the great outdoors is a good one.

Do a search for Manawatu on here. Its been covered time and time agian.

Welcome at Tebbs. Most Possums are shot up in trees and most rabbits are shot on the ground in amongst grass. Hope that helps. Ha ha ha ha. By the way don't mind me I just enjoy taking the piss.

Such great advice here...... I was looking for rabbits in the sky and possums in lakes and rivers! I should have much more luck now.

I'm getting the impression that most on here don't know what they are talking about and just want somewhere to talk sh*t.

No bud. we don't know what we are talking about. Go and do some hard yards, post your results. Good and bad, the results don't matter. what does is the fact that you will give it a go, like we did X years ago . Let us see if you are worthy of our respect and if so things will change. we don't need another Sully at the mo.

I offer free pest control to farmers near me - I shoot on four farms at present and they keep telling neighbours etc so no shortage of places to go. This week I was given a large trailer load of cut and split firewood because I don't charge them for the .22 ammo I use!

I think its more that your new bro and lots of dudes just rock in asking the same sorta questions frequently without putting in any effort into hunting or the forum. whatd u expect..? "oh yea man theres heaps of deer and rabbits down lazyfk road, go nuts - have a turn on my missus too" . apart from tinder, theres no feral animals on the internet in manwatu.
