    marlin 22 jamming

Ive always had jamming problems with my marlin semi. always with subsonics and occaionally with high velocity ammo. winchester ammo mostly , but have used others with same problems. Ive cleaned the action and its always lubed . tried crc and gun oil. Anyne else have this issue?

Couple of things - Marlin semiautos have their own preferred setup.

First - clean the action, feed throat etc thoroughly. Then spread 1 drop only of oil on bolt - no more - and put back into rifle. They like to run very clean and dry. (Do NOT lube the action with CRC, gunoil etc.)

Second - run it on CCI. Try CCI high velocity Minimag. You can also try CCI subsonics which it will or will not cycle depending on how worn your hammer and recoil springs are.

    Clean and dry and CCI

My Marlin doesn't like feeding the Winchester Powerpoint or Subsonic nose profile, but loves CCI - follow Mudgripz' excellent advice above!

I've smoothed the bolt a bit on my 995 semi-auto and run it dry. I made my own spring to suit subsonic cartridges and it cycles very well. I bought stainless compression spring online and cut it to a suitable length - 4mm OD x 0.7mm wire dia. I can get two springs out of a 305mm length.

I've had several Marlin semiautos over the years, and not had an issue, and don't have any particular cleaning regime. Have used mostly winchester and CCI subs.

Apart from Eley subs, my Marlin 975 shoots everything else, subs, high velocity and standards, no problems. Only mod done was a trigger return spring replaced with a floppy drive one many years ago.
