Most accurate and reliable .22 ammo for hunting

Ok guy's, I know it's somewhat subjective as different rifles prefer different brands etc but what is the alround ideal accurate sub and high velocity? I've been using CCi velocity and winchester sub's but would like to stretch things out a bit more.

    I prefer the Winchester subs
    always go well
Avoid remington subs like the plague. 3 out of ten will break the sound barrier.

Winchester m22 is exceptionally accurate in 3 of my 4 22s, the other likes mini mag. Although it's a bulk ammo and solid it shoots as well as anything else I've tried and the solid for rabbits seem to work as well as hollow points.

I tried Eley subs thinking they were going to be the holy grail, but they grouped slightly worse than CCI subs. As muzza says, you have to try a few in your gun, just bear in mind that nailing down rimfire accuracy can drive you nuts.

aus Winchester 42gr subs are the ducks nuts imho, cci subs usually shoot slightly better in rifles I have owned but the terminal performance of the whinny is way better.

Everyone I know has pretty much gone to CCI subbies. They seem to consistently shoot the best in most rifles. In HV take your pick. I have shot a heap of Power points over the years and they grouped fine and killed well. CCI mini mags are also very good and group better in my three 22s.

Winchester 40 gr subs in my Ruger 10/22 go well, function well, quite clean burning and the bullet opens up well on small game.

I find the best bet with 22LR is buy a few brands and test them. Start cheap with the bulk grade subs, hunting brands, then into match ammo SK, SK match( same manufacturer as wolf), RWS, Eley and Lapua etc. You start with the cheap stuff first, as you might find the accuracy you need at a lower price point and not to have to go any higher. I had a CZ which loved stingers off all things in HV and also SK match of the subs. Which was good as SK match is economy price compared to Lapua. Some of the higher grade match stuff can be
    fairly expensive.

recommend winchester dynapoint /rabbit ammo or modern winchester equivalents likewise in subs .FFS avoid remington subs at all coasts -ones i tried were ?gay as one got a wee "poof'and the round skipped up the road to meet the target, who 99.9%of the time had had a cuppa tea and shot through given they were so bloody slow and inaccurate.
ive blown possums chest walls out with dynapointnever failed me rabbit ammo similar.

Them Remmy subs seem very hard and dont dump energy very well. Although they go through the 10/22 nicely. Prefer winchester subs. But my boy has issues extracting them in his Savage bolt gun, hence the remmys

If you have a semi you must try this out. They oxide the case which probably makes them stick a bit better in the chamber which probably makes the pressure a bit more consistent in a bleow back (that's my theory anyway).

It's all reliable as far as CCI and Winchester subs go with misfires few and far between.
They both are accurate and perform well on game, deciding factor will be which performs better out of your rifle.
