    One of those nights

We have them from time to time. Dog and I went out for a possum shoot last night done it heaps so off we went looking forward to a good night out. Get there after dark and get stuff sorted, first thing headlight go to where it lives where's the fukn headlight gone oh well cant do much about it now its a half moon so ill just walk around the farm with no light. It actually worked out fine as I had the thermal out for the second time and it made me use it as by habit Ill just flick the head light on and scan with that. Get our gear and off we go, get along a bit turn on thermal what the the thing isn't working ah the end cap was still on take cap off that's better. couple of shots in and the rifle isnt picking up the rounds its my chopper sportco mod 73 semi so without a head light trying to balance the hand held spotlight trying to see what is going on was a pain. Turns out the follower in the mag was jammed and not having any tools on me that was it for that mag for the night. Lucky I have a spare mag load that one up and off we go again. Pleased to say I'm happy with the budget thermal I got and after learning it, its going to do the job nicely for me. I learnt that tiny spots in the trees are birds nesting and the bigger ones are the possums, a group of spots about 400m away was a group of cows, anyway back to the wandering around and the rifles starting to play up not going into battery and starting to not extract fired rounds until one refused to extract at all and that was the end of the night. Get back to the car and pull problem mag out of my pocket to have a look under the light and the follower snaps up into place and starts behaving. Only got about 10 possums but it was really windy and Ive found they dont seem to like the wind still a good night and now its time to strip this rifle down and see what's going on...
