    Pest to plate

Kids on school holidays this week, so ive had them out a couple of afternoons/evenings to do some pest control.

They've been quite handy as game retrievers.

We had some more anatomy lessons and skinning and gutting demonstrations.

They wanted to see the internal damage from the bullet (17 Hmr).

They insisted we take some meat to eat, which was great to hear.

So tonight for dinner i made some K.F.R....thats Kiwi Fried Rabbit. Soaked in buttermilk, a touch of garlic power, onion powder, paprika, salt, a pinch of cayenne pepper, some flour.

It was seriously tasty, but unfortunately there wasnt much left for me, the kids nailed theres pretty quick then came after mine.

Next time ill have to cook more!!!

They both told me that from now on i need to bring home the meat from every single rabbit i shoot. I dont think they realise the number of rabbits i shoot in a year.

Good on ya for taking the children out!
As a young fella I used to bring a lot of rabbits home for eating, Mum makes a mean crumbed rabbit schnitzel.

What are the plants in the tunnel house?

Nice! Did she use to squash it thin eh?

That's great that the kids are getting involved - they're lucky to have such a devoted Dad. And also fantastic that they can see that a 'pest' is also a resource. Are they helping out with the prep work to get the critter on to the plate?

As an aside you should post some pictures of the soapbox car - I'm sure there's many here who would appreciate the effort and tech involved!
