Pestgo #1 leg hold possum traps...any good

Hi Fellas, these are very well priced. They look identical to many of the sub $15 traps. Anyone have experience with these?? Pestgo #1 leg hold possum traps..thanks D

Having caught a couple of possums, I find that the money spent on Victor's or Duke's is well worth the extra coin. Too many "catch and release" with the cheaper traps, whether it be from weaker springs, or one less coil in the springs, or just lack of durability, I dont know.

I concur. I only run Victor traps. If you can get second hand that would be the way to go. Some of these knock offs are pretty rubbish.

I have a few hundred of them and they work well, occasionally one of the jaws pops out but easy enough to put back in and then close gap with hammer. I have bushmasters and a few Victor's which are defiantly a better build quality but for the price pestgo are hard to beat. Keep away from dukes they are not a good no1 trap.

At 15 bucks a trap they only gotta catch 2or 3 to pay for themselves.

    Should do that easy enough......

Depends if you are playing the long game I guess

a lot using traps like victor the good ones miss maintenance we had 300 as traps for monitoring and replaced springs every 3-4 years - then they last for years

    Another consideration...

There will always be people looking for good quality traps, my guess is if you buy good second hand quality traps [Victors etc] you will sell them for what you paid for them... How much will 5 or 10 yr old cheapies be worth ?

I was so glad to read this....... I thought I was losing my touch. Even after stoning the trigger latch on cheap traps to a hair trigger.
Lots less "catch & release's" with the Victors.

are you putting lure on your traps at all releases without catching can be rats caused by lure on trap rats just flung of not caught - lure should not be put on the plate -rather smeared up the tree to act as a blaze as well behind the trap - research done showed the white blaze from flour lure bought the possum in and from some distance - and lure oil etc only made up the possums mind to investigate in the last few metres before the trap -
