    Hi Bully.

Here is the DOC page on how to build a rat trap tunnel. I have some of the coreflute version, but have not found the plans on the internet. You can use this plan and add coreflute for the top and side walls. Most real estate companies have coreflute they give away once a property has sold.

Bacon, licorse, tunnel traps work the best the live capture ones drown them in a bucket of water to dispatch them

Sultanas on any trap that has the ability to have bait on a hook etc.

For added effect smear peanut utter on the sultanas.

Peanut butter is as good a bait as you will need imo.

If you have plenty of rats i would not set the traps for the first week. I would bait the trap with a bit of pb at the entrance of the trap to encourage the rat into the box. However do not set the trap. Rats are very suspicious of new objects in there area. If you kill Bob the rat the first night and you have all Bobs mates watching some may/ will keep away from the trap as they know its dangerous. If however you have Bob and his mates going in and out of the trap for 4 or 5 days getting a free feed, then you make the trap live and whack Bob that night the other rats think whats going on here ... i know its safe because i have been in there before and they go in and get the bad news also.. Tip no3

For those that use a drop-door box trap - how do you dispatch the captured rat?

FYI: I use a Crossman 177 revolver or a Benjamin BB rifle, a bit hard on the trap if you don’t line up the barrel between the mesh!

We get mice and rats all year around the house, they come in when it gets cold and i've given up on traps. Just keep up with Talon baits in down pipe tubes all around. Got to keep refilling the pipes as they are hungy buggers
