    Shooting rabbits at DOC Camp?

Just came back from a midweek camping trip from Stoney Bay, Coromandel and was horrified with the amount of rabbits in the camping ground.

At dusk/night on one of the nights we were there, i counted 37 rabbits within 40mtr of our tent. They love using 1080 in the hills behind the camp but don't seem to mind the rabbits.

Has anyone, managed to get a permit to shoot with .22 rimfire in a DOC campground before?

Apart from the rabbits, the trip was great, and the wind and rain wasn't too bad, the new Can Am Commander is run in and ready for its first service, and it was an awesome ride from Colville

I'll going to ring DOC tomorrow, but it would be great to know if someone has done it before, so i don't get fobbed off.

Ideally closing the camp for a night, would reduce the numbers and keep the public happy.
