    shot some bunnies today and think they have coccidiosis

    never herd of it before was just gutting some bunnies i got for the pot and noticed the livers looked abit suss as sent these photos to a mate with more experience
    and he reckoned it was coccidiosis looked it up myself looks like something ya dont wanna get or the dogs for that matter says you can eat the meat but watch out with the livers and poos but im not game enough to try so in a hole they go can anyone give me anymore info is it somthing i need to let the land owners know about incase there dogs eat rabbit poo

    I've seen that before; in young rabbits. I posted it on the other forum and apparently it's ok. I'll see if I can dig out the thread if someone else doesn't answer here...

    Coccidiosis is a viral scours disease in young cattle. I'm guessing that is RCD (rabbit collesie disease) as that effects the rabbits internal organs but the meat will be fine.Who eats the gutz anyway

    That is definitely coccidiosis . Apparently if you freeze them for ten to fourteen days it will kill all of it. Not transferable to humans but wrecks kiwi populations. I don't even give them to my dog. In a year or two you'll stop seeing it in the rabbits, they must develop an immunity to it or something.
