    Sub $100 spotlighting set up

Just a little plug for a couple of sellers on here. Piercing the Darkness and Knives for Africa

Have been getting back into the rabbits on the back of my folks having a serious issue on there little 13ha block. I'm talking 300+ rabbits shot in the last 4-5 months.

Anyway got a little Marlin XT22 from here and she's a little sweet heart. Accurate as and with the DPT I got added quiet as a mouse.

So I wanted to dabble in spotlighting without the crazy costs all the companies charge these days.

Went for the Sorirn C8G as the spot. https://www.piercingthedarkness.co.n...hi-1700-lumens

And the Nitecore GM05 for the mount. https://www.knives4africa.co.nz/product/nitecore-gm01/

Both work a bloody treat. Under $100 and smoked over 20 bunnies on its first outing last night. Had the spot on for ages and still going strong when I called it quits. Couple of hours i'd say.

Rabbits are becoming a major issue in many areas.
In the last eight weeks I’ve shot 23 on our 1ha lifestyle block, and still see up to six each evening, there were 3 grazing on the lawn on Monday evening.

Yeah mate its a big issue at my olds. In two paddocks we will have to keep the cattle out due to the burrows. Will have to graze them with the goats and emus. Mum is dead set sick of the fuckers

Well you have been a slack prick not getting on to them earlier.... Salt air luring you in the other direction.

Nice. I have a similar setup. Love rabbit shooting! I like a second torch for spotting.

Well if anyone needs a hand in getting rid of them I’ll gladly oblige and skin a few for your pot.
Gibbo, I finally found those elusive Te Puke fallow. They are skittery little buggers though and it’s not a luxurious walk either

    Quick question re the torch...

    From the website:
    Group 1: Eco >Low >Medium >High >Turbo
    Group 2: Smooth Ramping (10 - 1700 lumens)

Does this mean you can choose either option at time of purchase, or is it something you can alternate on the torch? I assume option 2 means it's on/off, and varying the brightness level. Sick of my current light, where every time you push the button, you get a different brightness level, or strobe. I wanna shoot the little bastards, not throw them a disco.

Iv got probably a dozen or so of the little torchers that take cr18650 batteries
I gave one to everyone in the Family for christmas as a gift
I like the simple end of the range, and I just take a second torch in my pocket rather than extra batteries
awesome little torches, and Jacob is cool as to deal with

Do you guys find the glare from the sport light sometimes blinds you and you cannot see your target through the scope.
I a similar set up to the top picture but not as tall.

It depends. Fine on a blued rifle with a tight beam torch, but impossible on a stainless rifle. I tried everything and couldn't get passed it, so have mounted the torch underneath the forend and the problem is gone as you would expect.

I've found at close range on possums sometimes the mighty Maxtoch is too bright and get some glare. So I just run it on a lower mode and it's no worries. Mounting the torch under is a good solution

I set it to high in group 1. Button click, light on, button click, light off
    Havnt used group 2.

Thanks for this info, been on his site and asked his advice about a torch for me. Definitely be buying one off him and will be great beside the bed at night too, in case some scum buttplug tries wandering around our place at night looking for bargains. Appreciate your write up!
