Life is natures way of keeping meat fresh
I used to sell Hares to a pet food processor in North Canterbury, I always got enough to pay for fuel, ammo, a couple of dozen beer.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
That will make a few guys happy down that way.

I used to think of it as a fun night out spotlighting, all expenses paid for and usually $30-50 extra afterwards. average night earned me about $100-120

It's hard work to make decent money. Long nights, cold, boring after you've shot a few hundred, lonely.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
Yep but as oneshot said.
If your already doing it for fun and it pays for ammo and fuel its win win.

I looked at it a few years back but the requirements for cooling the carcases down made it uneconomic for us. And we were bagging often 600-1000 a night. Would have cost about $6000 for us to set up and added about 6 hours for delivery each time we went out.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
I make my living shooting rabbits and the odd hare, get paid 7.00 a pair for large rabbits over here, what sort of money they pay over your way ?? Hares I get 5 bucks per kilo.
We used to do this around wanaka, as the farmers already let us full our tanks from there supplies and gave us the ammo(or more accurately-a hefty amount of it) it was a nice extra as one of our group had a chiller trailer.
When we lost the use of the trailer we did the math and it was not worth us buying one-would have turned what was a fun night out once or twice a week into a mad dash to brake even.
