Thread: Trap Bedder - for Possum Trapping

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone in New Zealand that traps possums has used a Trap Bedder.

Its a tool like a cookie cutter to cut a hole in the ground to embed and No.1 Traps.

I have a seen them used a lot in the USA for trapping Raccoons, was wondering if anyone has tried them with Bush Tail Possums?

Yep, I’ve got a hammer with a mattock blade on the back, bit of Manuka for a handle.

Just use your hammer to bed the traps, it is very important that they are bedded well otherwise possums can spring them and not get caught, this will make them wary next time round.

Thanks everyone, yes I figured that would be the case.

Possums don't seem to be as worried as Raccoons and Coyotes. But it interesting to see some of the US sets, very well hidden indeed.
