using rear guns bags in the field ?

thinking about getting some kind of rear bag with the ears type for under the butt to tighten up my groups . . . and most of all to use in the field to get that little more accuracy at longer ranges varminting.

any thoughts . . . better makes / models . . some are taller than others, whats the best overall ?

    cheers R.
    without a picture . .. it never happened !

I made my own from a worn out pair of jeans, cut a length of leg and sew it up to the right shape. Filled mine with wheat and it doubles as a heat pack for the aches after a day on the hill

I have / use one. Works well for sighting in but for me it's just another thing to hump around.
However it would work well as long as the ground is reasonably level. One you are on a slope I found you couldn't always use it.
It certainly supports and steady's the shoot when you can use it.

I have the one Norway uses, Vertebrae? Have a carabiner to clip it to my pack. Small light and works

I have one like @Gibo (although I got it made locally before THLR did them). I'm thinking about getting another bigger bag and quite like the look of the bags that are popular in PRS shooting, particularly the Armageddon Gear Game Changer bag

I'm looking at getting SAP's newer lightweight one. It's rectangular so I reckon it'll give more height flexibility than the THLR one, and it's only half the weight of that too.

Bags can be a pain in the ass.
I just use my rain jacket folded up tight or rolled up depending on terrain.

Have found it bettee across the field then a bag i had one with thrme rabbit ears style and it seames t9 take up a lot of room in ya daypack.

I got a small rectangular zip up bag & filled it with that plastic bubble stuff (like giant popcorn) that comes in packaging to protect stuff. Weighs next to nothing & clip to day bag with caribeener

    I use the SAP one
Certainly light - maybe bit stiffer than other ones
But straps over the scope and has grip on one side for shooting off a tree stump etc

I bough a cheapo set of empty rest bags off aliexpress and filled them with small bits of bedroll offcuts. Weighs next to nothing and clips onto anything.

@rossi.45 one trick I did use before I brought a bag was I got an empty 3 ltr wine bladder. With the thing deflated it takes up on room and once you are in position just inflate it to desired hardness.
Once you want to move let the air out and away you go.
It works guite well and it will let you experiment using a rear bag to see if you will use one in the field.
