Just door knock. Drive out into the country, find a likely looking area, go to the house, knock on the door and explain that your looking for a place to look for a few rabbits with your daughters. Ask politely if you could shoot on their property. If they say no, thank them for their time, and ask them if there was anyone else they knew of worth asking. Take your daughters with you, I garuntee, no-one will turn you away.

Always call first, preferably a couple of days in advance. Polite people who leave gates as the found them are usually not turned away in my experience, especially with children in tow. Down home (SI) there are miles of river bed people can go and shoot. Not sure about up your way.

+1. No different to UK mate, its all about who you know, if you know nobody just start door knocking. Maybe ask friends here / work mates if they know any local farmers who might let you on their land, zero and target practice with the .22 just to get used to it.Also helps if the farmers know once you are happy with it you may knock over some rabbits for them.
