Back steaks for the bbq, any old ones go for snitzel. Back legs into bier stix.
@30.06king anywhere from 70m to 230m that night if I recall. I shoot off the bonnet or top of the canopy so am able to get a stable rest which is all the difference

SO I was out looking for fallow/goat the other day when a sudden movement out the corner of my eye presented a pest control opportunity.
Bonus was the joey in the pouch, so twofer

The hound lives for two things, pets and hunting!

Went out for the first time in over a year. Managed 25 bunnies in a night, high score for me. Carried around 10 home.

Good work. A pack can get pretty heavy when it's full of bunnies.

Thanks guys. And yep already enjoyed the livers + kidneys in a cream sauce with toast, and made bean rice burritos with some leg meat. Rabbit in mustard sauce soon.

So good to see you back out in the field again. It's easy to get bogged down by other life stuff, but making the effort is so rewarding. You've got a great resource there - the landowner will be happy to see the numbers controlled too.

I enjoy your creativity with how you utilise what you harvest. I recently tried liver again from a prime condition deer - just can't do it I'm afraid. Kidneys add an interesting dimension when combined with steak and gravy - nom nom!

Dammit!! Out with covid at present but last night 2 of the boys went out to one of our sites near Christchurch and bombed 70 hares in four hours spotlighting. All shot while driving four very big paddocks. Too breezy for the 17HMR so 223s did the business.

Aaargh....have just had some range time with my Howa 223 and would like to have been there.. Next time!
