Handful of hoppers in some bitter gales, managed to find a nice lee face where they were hanging out. Wallabies hate wind, although they do love a bit of fog or cloud. Just wind today though, and lots of it.. cold numb trigger finger (and others) made things interesting, but got it done.

These were a couple of big bucks, gonna make a few cats very happy.

Team down to Tekapo area recently and shot 180 in an evening, including half a dozen wallabies and 2 deer. Then on friday night two of us went out to local Chch site - short shoot as it was very cold and bit wet - but popped 23 bunnies. Lowest number we've shot in many years but boys have hammered that site. Pleasant little shoot - all taken spotlighting from truck with Maxtochs. New (to me) Howa mini 223 a pleasure to use and I liked the Bushnell dusk n Dawn 4-12x scope - nice clear picture in the lower light spotting.

They push their way in under the net. Once in, they don't appear to be able to get out.

@Shearer I know you like a good headshot picture. It's not a deer but.....
This week I decided to leave the hollow points at home, and use up the Target Solids which I bought during the shortages.
    It's going OK.

I posted somewhere on this forum that you don't need a hunting scope bigger than 16x magnification and 42mm dia. Then I went out a bought this lovely Bushnell Elite 50mm 30x mag. At the time I thought, "What a dreamer!" But today was my first long range rabbit shot and the 30 power brought it in to like 40 metre. The Black stump buy the fence was just behind the rabbit. Range is probably around 200+ metres. First shot I held bang on and saw it land low by about 4 - 6 inches. Second shot I held the first dot BDC on and it was, "Good night nurse!"
I've got to admit, it wasn't pretty! Perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention to my own Breaker Morant quote? Because I made a fricken mess of it.
Note to self: Need more practice!

This hapless little bugger had taken his coat off and was sunbathing when the Hornet said, "Good morning!" Range about 40 metres.
45grn HP of unknown Brand. 10.5grn ADI AR2207. I'm awaiting delivery of 1.5kg of AR2205. Might be there when I get home tomorrow.
I don't know why more people aren't varmitinng with the Hornet? It a fantastic little cartridge which fills the gap between rimfire Magnum and 223 (or in my case 222).

And here I was going to ask how the 2205 was going, hope you have a Caldwell at least.

Gidday Smokey, I've got about 200 Hornet cases prepped and primed ready to load this weekend....hopefully.....Subject to delivery...

No Caldwell, just a Harris bipod and Allen rear rest of the bonnet of my ute! Prone or kneeling when Mobile.

Solids go great, more or less all that I use these days as the extra cost for the HP isn't worth the extra money when you are shooting them every day.

Finally got footage of the cat bailing up a shot animal and bringing it home. This would be great if she did it more than once a night. If I don't get back back home quick enough, the heads gone, and on the odd occasion the rest gets dragged through the cat door.
