I'm feeling a little under gunned but they still drop on the spot, the first 6 I got were around 50M away and they didn't seem to care that I was picking them off one by one, the ones last night were around 80-100m, I was a little surprised that they all ran away so quickly, being that I was further out than normal, maybe they winded me, was fairly still both nights though.

the hornady 62gr SP turn piglets inside out so I'm thinking that they fully expand within the larger pigs as none of them have exit holes, seems to be working though.
I wish the ones around here were like that. One shot (at any distance) and they scatter like fireworks.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

You had me worried for a bit!

Why Black Backed Gulls? Not that I'm fond of them, but they would appear to be native, so there must be a reason for the lifting of the protection, more aggressive chip stealers?

Lots of them, I understand they may outcompete the smaller gulls? Also a menace on farms around lambing time..

Even DOC does control programs on black-backed gulls.

Seems the younger ones don't really care about light or noise, they also seem to be the only ones that'll occasionally come out in the day,
The larger pigs are pretty jumpy and make themselves scarce quickly with any shooting going on, seems like I still have quite a number to cull back, have got about 20 so far since august but 9 were just the last two days so the NV should earn its keep pretty soon.

First Rosella of the season, hopefully split a breeding pair before they started. Only a couple of hundred thousand to go...

Started the salami production line. Yesterday there were six Canadians on a network of drainage ponds which I shoot regularly. Seven 222 rounds, six geese.Name: 20240905_130403.jpg

    Rabbit hour.
If you look really closely, just left of the fence, on a sunny spot, you can see the white underbelly of a very dead rabbit!
    That's somewhere about 150- 170 metres.
