Hay Joe how are keeping , good to see your into more shooting with bigger guns than your air rifles. Looks like your shotgun works a treat.

I got a call about 1pm from Midlands Gardens Retirement Village head groundsman to say the three geese we saw yesterday were still there, and upper management had given the green light to have a crack at them.

As per our agreed safety plan, the walking track was cordined off, residents, airport, local businesses, adjoining neighbours txt messaged, and a Police Activty Number raised.

The staff had identified one goose as having a broken, so knowing it was going anywhere fast, I left her till last.

So picture this, about 12 villas look over this pond. All twelve had residents with their faces glued to the windows! About six staff stationed around making sure nobody wondered into the area, a spotter behind me and everybody watching me laying prone on the lawn.

    NO PRESSURE AH!

All I'm thinking is, "Shoot straight you bustard, don't makes a mess of it!"

    "Clear?" I asked.
    "Clear!" Came the reply.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Went the triple two! (I gave one flapper a second one!)
Three dead geese! A small cheer went up and the Head Groundsman said, "Fuck that was impressive!" To which I replied, "Just Another day in the office Bradley!" Then went back to my ute and changed my undies!

The sick goose, with the "Boken wing," is the middle of the three birds. You'll notice it looks sickly and emaciated. I think its got the POX and sure as hell it ain't going in my salami bin.

This bird has poxy wing tips, not broken wings. Can some of you experienced bird shooters tell me what's going on???

@Hugh Shields I shot a similar one recently. Was an old bird, one wing was in a bad way as you can see in the linked photo. Had a thin patch of feathers under that wing too.

Unfortunately it takes a lot more than a few minutes. You have to decide on one pig and follow it until it presents a good shot, and they don't hold still for long. Literally bouncing off the walls and you get the odd one charge you.

Saturday evening/night out for a quick walk around in North Canterbury with a couple of mates. We managed to shoot about 25 rabbits, three pigeons and two magpies. Heaps of little ones around. We couldn't shoot round the house or yard so had to watch many laughing at us.... .204 left a trail of destruction.

Shooting bunnies, yes lots of little ones around.
I took 2 rifles, 223 & 22lr with subs to take the closer ones. Was a closter f/ck as caught out with the wrong rifle, way to often.
Solution 1 rifle, so have setup the 17hmr, never been overly impressed with accuracy, inch at 100m. Took the garmin along & sighted in, accuracy - same, but what blew me away was the inconsistency of the 80 cents a pop - 17g Hornady ammo. Sure this is why we reload, accuracy past 100m would be all over the show.
