Zombie genetic mutated possum

I noticed damage to one of my apple trees yesterday so set up "operation apple seed" to take down the perpetrator.. just before midnight I fired up the spot light and to my surprise and slight confusion 2 very BLUE eye shines glared back at me from the top of the apple tree. Un sure of my target I ventured out to ID it before delivering the thank you bomb.
Sure enough it was a black possum.
I took these picks of is early this morning before work, it got rained on but looked quite black last night. Anyone ever seen blue eyes like this on a possum? They are like nothing Ive seen in the thousands Ive shot over the years.
It wasnt blind.. young male doing all thing they normally do but blue eye shine instead of red..

None of the above, the eyes were clear and it could see perfectly

Yes very.. but they were even brighter blue when it was less dead

Probably been breeding with one of the Green Party.

that would be red glazed eyes with dilated pupils

If you didn't use a flash in the photos I would say cataracts. Not thick enough to make it blind but would go blind eventually if it hadn't decided to eat ya apples :)

one thing for sure...its a "good possum" now.

I had a pitbull thats eyes changed color when it got hunting, thye were brown all day everyday but as soon as i gave him the seek comand his eyes changed bright neon blue. Its was freaky but very cool

I'm 99% sure it has interstitial keratitis which is a corneal inflammation. Shows up as a bluish-white film which appears over the clear window of the eye.
It is caused by the same virus that causes infectious hepatitis so shovel it into a burial hole when you get back from work today.
