Thread: 10 Absolute Essentials ?

Look, I usually take 50 things, not 10.

But the OP asked about ESSENTIAL things. Those are things which if you don't have them you cant get a deer or will die (or worse still have to go back out to town).

A PLB is not essential. Blokes have been hunting in NZ for decades before they were invented and almost all came back alive and shot deer. Working within your limits and taking care not to have an injury are an excellent substitute, better even than taking a PLB and using it. Improvise - mate !

OK, I have to admit I also take a swanny or similar on every hunt. Overnight, I take a sleeping bag and a pack. I think that's pretty well used up my 10 essential items.
