top photo LH stag is the 2nd from the top in bottom photo (14 pts) and the 14 in the middle photo is the smaller 14 in top picturee. Both 14s are some of the best heads i've seen on this place since hunting on it in for the last eight years. No shooting young stags during the year and nothing under 12 in the roar.

I was going to ask the owner but there would be to many arguments. Could just imagine it can we bring our 1080, what about our plb, that's not hunting that's shooting, are we aloud our long range shooters, can we shoot fawns, but iam just a meat hunter and last of all 0h you hunt with a tikka 7mmo8.

Hell, looks like a flaming deer farm, I`m from the old school here you tramp in, set up camp for 4/5 days in the bush, this is what going hunting is all about, getting a deer is a bonus. It`s the bush camping that's the best part, billy tea by the camp fire, love it.

Down here we can do that and see groups of deer like that. Or we can pop out in the evening and half an hour up the road and see groups of deer like that. Nothing like a good adventure, but time is money sometimes. And seeing deer in regulalry regardless of where you are teaches you a lot about their behavior and in turn makes you a better hunter.

Nice photos @bigbear. If those 14's got a another year or two under their belts they'd be absolute rippers. Got the points, now they just need a bit more mass and length.

That stag by the angle post looks like quite a mature animal to me. I think that he is in the top pic too? How would you know he "needs more time to grow"?

He is definitely the older of all those photographed. Didn't mean to come across to say he 'needs more time', that's just what I would do, everyone's different, everyone hunts for different reason and I respect that may be a trophy of a lifetime for some guys. It's great to see 'management' working, sounds like it is on this place. But also sounds like the management "program" is quite young, therefore even some of those oldest stags may just be reaching maturity now. Given the approx location of these animals I would be taking a punt that the genetics would be a big player, there's a heap of tucker, points come before mass and length, so if these are the biggest stags he's seen on the place so I just think it would be interesting to see if in another year those stags would be bigger again. At the end of the day I don't judge what others shoot or don't shoot, my comments are based simply on what I do.

Nah, I was just musing generally. Was just wondering out loud how we actually know or work it out. I often see heads and wonder if they will get better. I look at the animals maturity and the coronets (if I can). I get your point about genetics and feed - on that basis if both of these are right that stag might well grow on.
