Hey 223 experts (and others, I know you'll want to add your 2cents), for deer which would you chose between ELDM 73s and 77 TMKs (my rifle shoots them equally well). Ta.
ELDM are way cheaper I like both on game.
But Bruce is the man to answer this @Tahr

Never used the TMK but I’m very happy with the ELDM, I use it as work ammo and use it in different calibres
You use the factory ammo @Fat ninja?

Sure do, in both .223 and .308
Im one of the "others". The difference is not much. Better penetration with the TMK. They are both splatty. You will push the 73grn quicker.
Objectively TMK are the best, but Ive got a couple hundred and don't use them much - too expensive when you include sighting in and practice/mucking about (grrr - gimps 10 shot groups). For their margin of betterness they are too costly.
I use Targex mainly - not for outright superiority - just cos Im tickled that a NZ made bullet performs so well. ELDM are as good.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

I used the same powder charge for both projectiles and they shot basically the same POI all the way out. The 73 was going a squeeze faster with the same powder which made up for the lower BC. If money was no object, then I’d run the TMK. But to be fair there’s not much in it - just a tad more penetration from the TMK.
If you sip the Rokslide coolaid a lot seem to favour the 77gr TMK in the states.

Not 77TMK, but I use 69TMK and 73ELDM interchangeably. Same load and point of impact out to 300ish, and same affect on crease shot deer out to the same distance. Found both to be very effective.
