Access to St. James Conservation Area question

Was thinking of applying for a Molesworth block to hunt in June but it looks like many are closed for a pending 1080 drop.
Plan B is to look at hunting St. James which I did once many moons ago so the old memory is a bit fuzzy on the road access options.
Would anybody care to offer up a few suggestions of which access roads usually remain passable in June and any that maybe become dicey at that time of year ?
And at road ends / parking spots are vehicles generally safe from troublemakers these days ?
I generally enjoy a bit of hiking to access worthwhile hunting country and would likely use a combination of huts and my own tent as accommodations.
I have absolutely no knowledge of where I should head in St. James to hopefully find Chamois, Deer, Pigs so please feel free to recommend if you are of a mind to.
Many thanks for all and any replies.

I’ve never had a problem with with vandalism when parking on the main road to access the saint James/Lewis pass, however when I went into one of my spots that I’d been scouting I found 7shrivelled up gut bags on a big flat tussock with a wallow. I’m unsure how many other basins waro have smashed but I’d say the whole area got a work over
