Advise on roar window - Pureoras

    Hi all

I was too late in the past for the roar in there.

Looking to do a 7-10 day trip this year. Would anyone be willing to bet what the best window would be from past experience?

    Currently thinking 26 Mar - 7 Apr.

    Thanks in advance.

Very hard to tell this far out, how dry it stays will make a difference when hinds cycle.

I think I was too early last year. I'll check my old diaries as I had some awesome days in there back in the 1990's.

I went 10April last year and they were still roaring but the week before was better. I think your dates are good for planning as of today

    No!!!
My best days in there were the 25th March and 7th April 1994, so you want to adjust your dates to 24 Mar - 8 Apr.

Thanks all for advise so far. @Gamehunter, I’ll consider your suggestion to take a month off from work, wife and kids and go hunting. What could go wrong

Hinds drop their young all at a certain time of the year so it stands to reason they were all mated at the same time, so hinds will cycle as Nature intended at the same time each year, as for stags roaring while they mate is another story.

Go stay with the group who camp at Deerhaven for a month, I think it was roughly 25th Mar to 25th Apr last year.
