After my first wallaby. Where should I head off to?

    Hey guys,
I still consider myself fairly green when it comes to hunting. Other than my rabbit/possum hunting (which I've been doing since I'm a kid) I'm often with someone else when I'm after bigger things, and although I have shot about a dozen deer I haven't come across one on my own out in the bush and taken him. Mostly I end up running into goats out there.

I've never shot a wallaby before and I'm wanting to have a crack at a few on my own (or at least with my brother). Does anyone know of somewhere that's a good area to go and track a few down? The aim would be for my brother and I to take a long weekend and go knock a couple over.

I hear Rotorua area has a few (not sure where specifically though). That's only a few hours away.
    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Hi Rimfire I got a permit too shoot wallabies around L. Okataina that was years ago.It was certainly a great experience. I'll see if I can dig up the article I wrote and got published in The NZ Wildlife Magazine. That was my first wallaby then I went for the bigger ones down South.

Cheers Dundee. I might have to pop into Rotorua DOC next time I'm down there and ask them where abouts a good place to go is.

Hard case wrapping your stock up in green tape like that. What's the point in a flash stock if you're not gonna use it lol. Guess that's where the plastic stocks come in handy. Some of those ones you shot look pretty darn big.

I'm not worried if they're not big ones I just want to hunt something new and have a good few days away from work!
