An afternoon walk around the "backyard"!

    Good morning everyone,
After a quick meeting with a friend farmer i stick along for a quick afternoon walk around and beyond his property, saw a good mature hind on my way up and a wild sheep but kept moving as i was not yet ready for a hunt, the deer was only 284meters down hill.
I keep moving up with the strong wind pushing behind me, I know, it is "stupid" a hunt this way, but, it didn't affect my upper hunting ground, almost half way i spot something "small" in the middle the track, WOW, it is just couple hares. Arrived at a prime spot with heaps of grass and water just bellow the bush line, but nothing to be see.
I keep going further up and now i can see 4 wild sheep, but i still not ready yet, still moving up i start to glass more often and take extra care, when, as i slowly come out from behind a bush i spot that beautiful but "wonky" red stag, he was laying under a small tree and with his only right side antler "spot" me looking at him, "surprise i got you" feeling came up, the deer now is up and start to move upwards, i lay down and fire a shot, I"I got it" woo Hoo!, Nah!, he got up from behind the bush and up he goes, i try to follow it looking for "blood trail" to find out it does not exist, boomer!
Keep looking around and thinking about take one of the sheep or a calf i suddenly spot 2 fallow buck, and then a third and a hind, woohoo! here i go! As i try to get closer all of them start to go down hill in to the scrub and now i have "none" deer in sight. The light is fading and the home time is approaching, so, lets shoot something.
I walk down the hill for a bit and start to look for the bucks when suddenly here is that little hind feeding and walk/jumping around happily. I start to make my move and she start to "run" towards me, then, "where is she?" the "bloody" deer gone, i could not find it anywhere, now the light is fair, i stand up from behind "my" bush and "SURPRISE"! right in front me no more than 5 meters the little hind jump, she is so surprised as i was, she look at me sideways and "Boom" my 140gr Nosler Bal Tip gone from my 7-08 barrel, she only move downwards towards the ground! WooHoo! again, she is down.
After few photos and message to my kids and partner the mess start, time to take all the meet i could and head home in the dark. What a great afternoon, i was thinking how many of us are this lucky to go for walks like that.
Guys, have a great week and that all of you have a great time any time out there, thank you to all of you guys that somehow "help me" or "teach" me here in this forum, i ALWAYS have a laugh or two with you guys and learn a lot.

Thank you everyone for the kind replies. @veitnancam, yes, it is a huge "bugger" to miss that stag and I hope I didn't hurt it at all as I hate to make an animal suffer and I respect or/my hunting conduct code. Regards choices, yes, I been spoiled big time, but it maybe was a once in a life time opportunity in that place. We have heaps of "choice" (2) to hunt around here, but you must be packet and keen for a good day out and up "tops".
I am very happy you guys enjoy the "story" and I will keep them coming as I have more.
By the way, those animals are the very first for my 7-08, and I was trying to sell it, happy I didn't.

So, here we go again! Just another one of those days.
Finished work around 4pm and was already with my mind in the hills, i text my partner to let she know i was "off", i could not stay another day inside home looking to the hills without a "bit of it". I normally don't take my dog with me but i decide she deserve a great walk too.
I went to my "X" spot where i have a stunning view from the place where i live, walk slowly with few stops in the way to enjoy the walk. After 40 minutes i was in the "base" of the hunting grounds and i start glass the face with no much faith i would see anything. Boom! Surprise, a fair bit up or another 1/2 way from what i already walk up i spot 4 animals feeding, i carry on glassing and found another two animals further up and i decide i would get into it.
With the wind in my favour and determined to shoot something i walk as fast i could with the "restrictions" of my "bugged" knee. Few minutes up and there i was, glassing again the 2 hinds upwards, my dog by then was thirst and tired, she was looking for a cool and quiet spot to rest what sometimes was annoying as she show herself out the hide. After 20 minutes more or less i decide to pass or should i say, decide to look for my other options and i start to walk towards where i saw the other animals.
Boom! again, i spot a deer. I start to stalk towards the animal looking for a spot where i could sit and wait, but, couple animals probably heard me and the dog and decide to check it out, bad luck. I could not believe it, I aim and after couple steps, one forward and one down(tumbling) falling almost in the spot!
Well, after a hour find a nice place to start dressing it did what i could and another 1.5 hour to come down the hill that take me only 1 hour to go up.
    Nice evening/night out, great result!
That is it for now everyone, hope "some" of you also have had a great day, keep the good work, be there, do it! Enjoy!

Just a little statement, "I love my 7mm Rem Mag"

I was down that way just last week, like a bloody deer farm. Come home with a couple of fallow and a couple reds from up Ben Nevis, just needed to nail a white tail
