Good head torch at night and a short hefty stick, whittled and shaped shaped to your liking.
Great way to have fun after legal shooting light on the river flats during a roar trip, they come out and nibble on the grass seeds and whatever else is tasty. Keep the torch on their eyes and they sit still, sneak in without spooking them and then run em down. Got 26 that way in the Okuru river last year was the young fellas idea, 11 year old lad on his first roar bored with all the rain started carving up a possum whispering stick by the fire. We all chuckled and left him to it until his old man took him out with the torch and he nailed 3 in 20 minutes on the first attempt, then everyone wanted to have a crack!
