I signed and shared it. Only 22 to go

http://safe.org.nz/sites/default/files/animal-activist-handbook.pdf Looking at their animal activism handbook. They are no friends of people who hunt, fish, eat meat, ride horses or wear wool. Next time someone gets shot in a hunting accident, take a look at their Facebook page for the comments from their supporters like good job, serves you right and karma being a bitch. These people are not your friend and they would shut down hunting if they had the chance.
ISIS isn't the nicest bunch too but I doubt a 1000 strong petition will shut them down either.
Good luck, but I'm not holding my breath. I did look at the Charities Commission site and Im surprised they were given charitable status in the first place though as they are very fringe.
Very true James. However there are other ways to interact with ISIS that do not involve words. I also am not sure if the instigator of the petition will manage to convince the IRD to look to see if they have strayed outside the definition a charity. However if he did and they were found wanting and lost charity status and its associated tax benefits and funding eligibility, I would have no sympathy for them.
now 20 to go

Oh I have no doubt about this and hence do not support them in any way. I just dont think you should make up your mind based on a random petition on the internet. Do some research and reading on your own steam and make your own mind up.
With the new rules around increased reporting, if there are financial issues they will be found out and dealt with accordingly.
If you want to talk tax exempt crooks, look no further than Mr Brian Tamaki, his tax exempt status is a farking joke.
You mean Bishop Tamaki (soon to be Cardinal, maybe even Pope..)
Done my bit, only 7 to GO!!
Made my mind up about SAFE a long time ago.
This article was the decider.
Camouflaged ducks | SAFE For Animals : New Zealand Animal Rights
That has got to be a spoof....hahaha.
What I actually meant, was that it looked like someone had spoofed Safe to take the piss.
It appears they don't need outside help to look stupid
6 more to go, what a bunch of losers.
5 now....
5 now
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it can start a few conversations to get people thinking. Just took a second to read through the 'Meet the SAFE Team' page on their site, over half of the people listed are from overseas, the UK mainly. Not that I have anything against Poms, but I'd like to think the people campaigning against hunting had some understanding of the cultural significance and rich history in NZ.
As a footnote that you guys might find funny, we threw a pretty elaborate launch party for friends and sponsors before the first episode of The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club went to air earlier in the year at VW HQ on Great North Road. Turns out that SAFE HQ is right over the road from VW, and they had a bit of a get together that Saturday night as well.
Luckily for us, there was a light south easter blowing which sent the smoke from our BBQ Venison (shot the day prior by one of our hunters Andre) over the road and right up their vegan snouts!
I am of the opinion that hunting groups should be more aligned with environmental orginistaions they are now. Both sets of people want to protect wild places and animals so it seems natural that we should be allies.
However SAFE isn't a environmental group, it's a bunch of nutters who want to extend human rights to animals and are more worried about lost puppies than protecting the rainforest.
Safe kill more puppies than any other organisation in the world. They're hypocrites

Theyre welcome to become as rabid as they bloody like but fuck it let em pay their bloody dues like the rest of us.
See someone mentioned Bishop Bri&handsome Hannah-cavorting about the planet on the Destiny church ticket recently with a wee spot of gambling in las vegas chucked in too. . Well theres big clouds on the horizon apparently -the Bish's school (ala college of indoctrination)is technically insolvent and hes frantically propping it up with loans from trusts associated with destiny. The fact the MOE wouldnt give them chartered school status has apparently compounded the problem!
of course we have "bwah ..its a lack of govt funding..... Govt are saying "youre a private school and very recent but hey why try to run before you can even crawl"??or words to that effect.(expand your delusion before you have the actual cash to do so!!)
Of course the ever faithful&gullible who fund both SAFE&Destiny willl be conned into reaching further into debt to bail these cons out>
1 to go!
Looks like I got to be the special number one thousand.
They're heading for 1500 now.
Why would public opinion - presented in the form of a petition - have any effect on the tax exempt charity status of an organisation? A lot of people don't like the Catholic church, but that is not grounds for revising their status as a charity.
To put it another way, if their tax exempt status is unwarranted, then surely just a single letter by one writer would be enough to point out that a correction is needed? To make my point another way again, if I get enough people to sign a petition, (like, all of them) then could I sway Inland Revenue into declaring by an overwelming groundswell of public support, that Carlsen Highway no longer needs to pay any income tax?
Forgive me I am just a humble hunting man and don't understand politics.
So then who is up for writing a letter..
You have a fair point there!
From what I have seen of environmentalists groups and politics you jump into public media with a bunch of people with little real practical knowledge of a subject.... often spent most of their career as US or European academics, but call themselves scientists and experts in their field.
Make some shit up, don't let ever the truth get in the road of a good story.
Media laps it up, naive public don't know any better and believe these fundamentalist "crack heads" as they have got their story in first, so its true, public opinion sways govt to make stupid rules up to stay in power in democracy to kept mislead public happy with feel good factor.
We are merely playing theses wankers at their own game....
This might sound a little cynical but I am sure many people have also witnessed first hand what these nut cases can do in various different industries
Not just industry. We have or first shoot of the year this Saturday.
Really looking forward to it. Partridge only.
But we do have a couple of foot paths that run through the shoot and in the past have had trouble from antis!
One is from this SAFE lot. Two others are from the RSPB.
Also had a new one last year that flys his drone over the end of one of the drives...?
Very tempting to shoot that one down.
So here you really have to know your laws, your rights, have a phone camera with you at all times.
Also all our guns have insurance.
These organisations help fight or corner. Which is great because they come up with little gems like this....
The Economic and Environmental Impact of Sporting Shooting
If you're hesitant to shoot it out of the sky for firearms safety reasons, I'd be keen to head along and 'Kamikaze' an older drone I have sitting around the garage gathering dust smack bang into his machine, doesn't take much to bring them down. Whereabouts are you shooting?
sideshow -the bloody drone flyer -arent CAA onto these clowns with some regulations re these things .still as you say if it got between you and a partridge ,in the words of Pres GW Bush"we call it collateral damge!"
id call it a bloody good shot ,though dunno about dressing it and eating it! now cameraman Dave has the idea a suicide drone mission -gotcha kamikaze headband Dave? we could of course train a very pissed off Canada goose to also attempt the feat.
Mate, I reckon that it would be completely worth it for the footage alone, would make an outstanding online clip if we could retrieve the footage afterwards!
Would be cool if you could have some little flash lights like a cop car on your drone hunter club. Would show that justice is done even in the air! :-)
Another note regarding an earlier post about academics and UK citizens in NZ :
I believe there is an academic in the university of Otago who might be from the UK and who is profoundly anti gun.
Any time there is a word about gun laws reforms in NZ that bastard is interviewed by the media, and as said earlier" because he is an academic ,his word must be true".and that bastard get paid by the GVT,aka us, to publish his shit and spread a propaganda about it among his students!
Also I believe that some of the top brass among the blues in Wellington are from the UK and have also an anti gun agenda of there own.
They are just waiting for the "NZ Columbine massacre" ( that I hope will never occur!) to get their plan going in action.
I don't mind UK citizens, I lived there for a while, but "In Rome do like the Romans", we don't need a little Britain here!
Otago has always been a hotbed of leftists with their noses in the trough
Or shoot is in Berkshire near Hungerford.
The CAA have been informed. The shot captain is a member of the police force.
If you did so happen to shoot one down, it would be criminal damage.
But we skin this cat several ways.
He can't fly in fifty meters of a person. We have minors in the beating line. So filming a kid here without the parents consent is a big NoNo!
I have him on film already. So we'll sort this one when he next sticks his head up.
Just need to really no your law and stay calm and polite as you can.
Where only small. Put down a few birds pay only £550 a year get together for around eight days of shooting. Plus a few night duck flights.
I'd be passed if it happened to me on a big day. Some of the shoots around here put down 25000 birds. So a three hundred bird day would cost you around £11000. Just to give you an idear.
No it's not all toffs. Guns and beaters come from all walks of life. Just very differant to how I was brought up shooting in NZ.
Still it's just good to get out.
I'll post some pics if any one is interested.
