I was in Otago last year in mid September and saw red stags still with antlers. The guys I was with suggested that they start loosing them about the start of September and all would have lost them by the end of September.
Saw some Fallow with no antlers in the same area.

Big boys first/earliest...young stags hold em later....not uncommon for a spiker not to drop till nov

Up this way mid to late August for the big old fella's and late September/October for younger animals, wouldn't think it was to much different down thata way.

Over the ditch the Whitetail will start dropping from about now on. As with other deer the big boys first.

Yep they have all dropped their antlers by now, so you may as well stay at home
