Stay in Taranaki. Shoot goats. Fill chilly bin. Drive home. They're on the side of the road down there, you don't even need to take your bow in to the bush.
Yep
Most times driving through Tongaporutu they hang around the road just beyond the cutting on the northern side of the bridge. Often see one or two around mount Mathews summit.
Mount Mathews to Urenui a blind man riding backwards on a horse would struggle not to see one.
It’s a few years since so this intel may not be up to date but last time I was up the Okau and Kiwi rd there were goats everywhere.
Not many on the mountain.
What is the thinking regards Coromandel?, used to be a fair few around in the late 90s, nothing to see in my old spots last time I looked though, that was over 15 years ago so would be interested to know if numbers have been kept down.
pretty sure at the slightest wiff of anything on 4 hooves being in the coromandels (north of the karangahake gorge) DOC send the cullers in........having said that while having a beer after work a couple of weeks ago i could see a goat browsing a clearing in the bush just above thames. theres bound to be farm escapees but that info is probably a closely guarded secret.
as said far closer and better places to chase stinkys
Seen a few up there lately, but all on private.
Was talking to a culler up the kaimais the other day and sounds like they're pretty well on top of the goat numbers in the Coromamdel. Bout to start culling north of Mt Te Aroha shortly
