Shot this hog in Southland a couple of roars ago never took it out whole.

Nice hog, nice set of hooks too... It can be any weight you like, so heavy you could'nt carry it.
Some times porkies are ok, meaning don't let the truth stand in the way of a good tale.
he sure is fat yeah 70- kg he is not very long but fat weighs heavy-- young pig -- good eating -- looks like domestic saddle back cross of some sort

Can't help but notice a few nicks out of the ear...looks like he's tangled with dogs in the past, could have been a real seasoned battler if it wasn't for the stalker.
Yeah his ears were pretty torn up and was missing most of one of his grinders, molars worn very flat too. I thought he might have been an old pig in real good condition but as said in original post not a whole lot of experience with pigs especially bigger ones anyway
Attachment 256131 well I said young based on condition thats subjective here is a photo of a saddle back pedigree - lots of crosses out there - it used to be Tamworth Landrace and Berkshire were the favoutite cross by pig hunters trying to build up size in the local pig population but Kune kune also crossed by pig hunters - more recently Russian wild boar the true European wild boar - these bought in by pig enthusiasts trying to maintain some of the old breeds - I saw a litter of wild pigs on the road out back of Taranaki and all were striped sure sign they had Russian wild boar in them - all interesting stuff -our best pig ever was 290lb (131kg) fat as and wild--

Caught this one same area a few months ago. 140lb. Hard to judge without seeing it guts out and on someone's back. My guess would be a bit bigger maybe 150-160.
good pigs - tame way back somewhere -- but a lot of areas like that- -bigger hind quarters than a Te Urewera razor back - better eating ahhh

I'd estimate that it's waaaay bigger than the one I got recently. I thought it was bigger and further away than it actually was!
