    Yeah i don't think it gets much pressure either , would be a good place to go in the next week or so. Just a big climb out if ya carrying meat . I walked out via Kelly Night hut and down the river but going to Pourangaki hut via Rangi tops is good idea i recon !!

    Same spot 40 odd years ago (the gully this side of the track ridge). Used to go over into there from Rangi quite often. As said, it's a grunt back up with a load.
    A good roar spot used to be down the big central plateaued elephants-head ridge that comes off the top into the Orua headwaters.
